What goes into packaging costs?
Our Box contains insulation foam board to help keep your products frozen. It also contains gel packs for additional freezing capacity. The minimum packaging fees are $12 on a small order and go up from there according to the size of the box and the amount of the product in the box. We will give you an estimate of the shipping and packaging costs prior to your ordering. We are also now providing an option for additional insulation for summer shipping.
Your raw rabbit package may arrive completely frozen. Or, in some cases, depending on shipping or weather conditions, it may arrive partially or mostly thawed, still containing ice crystals, or cold, indicating very recent thawing. Recent thawing or partial thawing does not necessarily indicate a faulty shipment or spoilage.Upon receipt simply refreeze the packages. Refreezing is believed to rupture bacterial cells (should any have started to grow), killing them and preserving the quality of the meat.
UPS does charge extra for shipping to a residence. If you have an office you can deliver to you can save on your shipping costs in that way, especially if you live in an extended residential area which also incurs additional fees. We are happy to give you an estimate of the total costs
before you commit to buying.
"HEAVY" boxes over 50# now also get hit with an additional fee for shipping. We will give you the quote for the shipping and packaging BEFORE you place your order so you are aware of the shipping charges. We do our best to keep these shipping costs as low as possible for you. That should give you an idea of an average estimate of shipping and packaging cost.
Shipping during holiday weeks is also risky and expensive. They charge an additional fee for holiday weeks. Plus we have found that because of the "day off" they are backed up and packages have a much higher change of being delayed, lost or damaged. As a result, we prefer
NOT to ship on holiday weeks.
However, we find that the shipping costs (price per pound) are usually the best on a 30-to-50-pound shipment.
You can typically figure $1 a pound for shipping.

NEW Cargo Insurance Available
We are super excited to let you know about a program we now offer to all of our customers. It is a cargo insurance policy that covers all of your orders should you choose to accept it.
The policy covers lost packages, damaged packages, packages damaged because of late delivery, or damaged because of weather related issues. Our customer’s cost is $3.30 per $100 of the total invoice. The policy will reimburse you for the entire product, packaging and shipping should you need another order shipped. We even take care of filing the claim for you.
If damage or loss occurs, we will immediately send you a new order as fast as we can and settle with the insurance separately. This way there is no risk and minimal delay to our customers for any problems in shipping.
We are so excited to offer this to you, our customers. It is totally up to you whether you want to accept the risk yourself or purchase the coverage to avoid any loss. Just let us know your decision so we can include the insurance on your invoice.
